Welcome!

Rie van Eijck (1953) comes from Zuidwolde, Netherlands.

In 2004 she decided to spend more time painting.  She was asked if she wanted to exhibit in theater “de Tamboer” in Hoogeveen. Before this time she painted mainly for private use. The exhibit was an unexpected success and since then her painting has gained momentum rapidly .

Preferably Rie paints with acrylic on canvas, acrylic dries quickly, so she must make quick dicisions, intuitively. Recently, she also experiments with ink. Rie started with herself as a model, women in plural, first the front , later mainly the back , which gives more excitement (where are they looking at). This remains a recurring theme, with clear accents on beautiful curves , with eye for detail. Colors and shapes are important in her work, sometimes warm and powerful, the next soft and subdued.

Rie paints wet in wet, layer on layer, warmth with a touch of poetry. She combines abstract , realistic with a huge range of colors and feelings. She finds the communication back and forth between images and words, abstract and figurative, in color and shape and is still experimenting. Furthermore, she experiments with "nests with roses" here , the atmosphere is especially important.

Occasionally Rie makes classical  paintings, mostly portraits, and to release herself from this , paints abstract ,  letting herself to be guided by what emerges. This creates "guidelines” along the canvases , by which “if by chance” creates beautiful compositions which she subsequently connects.

Rie often works on commission. She is a member of the Visual Collective Drenthe.

Most of the work of Rie is Abstract - Figurative.
